What is the Most Luxurious Hotel in Aspen, Colorado?

Out of all the 5-star hotels in Aspen, the most luxurious hotels in Aspen are The Little Nell and Hotel Jerome. Amenities at The Little Nell include spa service, state-of-the-art fitness center, multiple iconic in-house restaurants and bars, extensive wine cellar, and exclusive events for VIP guests. Hotel Jerome is known as the hotel where celebrities stay while in Aspen. Located in the middle of downtown, Hotel Jerome is a reflection of Aspen’s long history. Compared to other hotels, the rooms at Hotel Jerome are some of the most spacious hotel accommodations in Aspen.

Because Aspen is home to so many incredible hotels, it can be hard to choose where to stay for your trip. In this article, the Aspen Luxury Concierge team will evaluate each hotel and recommend only the best. The Top 5 Best Aspen Luxury Hotels

1. The Little Nell

The Little Nell is the creme de la creme of Aspen luxury hotels in the Roaring Fork Valley. If you know anything about Aspen, you’ve probably heard of The Little Nell. Located at the base of Aspen Mountain, The Little Nell is ski in/ski out in the winter. During the summer, guests can go on exclusive adventures, like zip lining, hiking, fly fishing, river rafting, and more - all complete with professional guides and top-notch gear. While the hotel is opulent and large, the atmosphere is unpretentious and friendly; the staff learn your name quickly and are eager to help. In the cozy lobby, strangers turn into friends over drinks and shared interests.

Unlike other hotels, every single room at The Little Nell is unique with its own layout and styling. This makes it ideal for longer visits due to the homey feel of the rooms. The Little Nell is famously pet-friendly; pets are welcome in rooms as well as in the lobby.

On the mountain side of the hotel is Ajax Tavern, which is a well-known bar party spot as well as a delicious dinner destination if you want classic American fare. On the town side of the hotel is Element 47, which serves award winning Colorado cuisine with world renowned wine pairings.

2. Hotel Jerome

What is notable about Hotel Jerome is how everything about it is oversized, from king sized beds in most rooms to extra-large baths that are bigger than some Manhattan apartments. Whereas The Little Nell is sleek and modern, Hotel Jerome is a historic hotel. It has been open since 1889, but recent renovations have retained that cowboy charm with some added 21st century opulence.

All rooms have incredible mountain views through floor-to-ceiling windows. The residential suites are over 2,000 square feet with enough bedrooms for the whole family. Like The Little Nell, Hotel Jerome guests can enjoy exclusive outdoor experiences, like horseback riding, Jeep off-roading, rock climbing, ATVing, rides in a hot air balloon, and more!

Hotel Jerome is unique among Aspen luxury hotels because it has 4 restaurants and bars on-site. J Bar is the most well-known because it hosts live music year-round and attracts especially big audiences during Aspen Jazz Festival. The Living Room is a far more low-key place to dine; this is not a party place, it’s more of a venue for reunions and making new friends. The Garden is for outdoor dining, which is exceptionally popular in the summer, especially for large parties and bachelorette events. Prospect is a farm-to-table restaurant with seasonal menus tailored to what is in season in the Roaring Fork Valley.

The St. Regis is a mountain manor straight out of the Gilded Age. The modern, clean lines with floor to ceiling windows and bronze accents transport you back in time to an era of decadence - all with modern amenities and comforts. St. Regis is such a popular hotel in Aspen because it is only a 3-5 minute walk (depending on type of shoes) from the base of Aspen Mountain, giving visitors easy access to fresh morning powder.

Visitors are known to rave about the butler service at the St. Regis. It goes far beyond turndown service and 24 hour room service: the butlers are known to go above and beyond to make your stay the best it can be.

Another notable amenity at the St. Regis are the restaurant options. Located in the The St. Regis Aspen Resort is Chef’s Club, where the chef lineup changes frequently to keep the fare fresh and innovative. The hotel has complimentary transportation services to and from the Pitkin County airport, but you can also borrow one of the hotel’s BMWs to take yourself for a joyride.

On the outside, W Aspen is modeled after traditional ski chalets; the inside draws inspiration from the Ute Native Americans. The interior is simply something you have to see for yourself. W Aspen is far from your ordinary beige, bland hotel. Every room is completely unique with colorful carpeting, unique decorative touches, and even wrap-around couches that encircle the fireplaces in some rooms.

When you stay at W Aspen, you have 2 options for dining: the Living Room and 39 Degrees both serve 3 meals a day of classic American fare, which can be enjoyed indoors or on the patio (weather permitting). On the roof is the Wet Deck: a Las Vegas-style bar with pool-side lounging and nightly DJ performances in the summer months. If you want a more contemplative bar experience, check out the Grotto, which is dimly lit and laid back with custom cocktails and great conversation.

If you are traveling with kids, your ALC concierge might recommend Limelight for your accommodations. While Limelight Hotel isn’t quite as luxurious as The Little Nell, its atmosphere, amenities, and location make it an excellent place to stay while in Aspen.

The Limelight is one of the most modern luxury hotels in Aspen; if you like clean lines and large windows, this is the place for you. Unlike other hotels in the area, the owners are very eco-conscious; the on-site restaurant composts, utilizes locally grown ingredients, and the underground parking garage offers electric car charging stations. Factors to Consider When Choosing a Luxury Hotel in Aspen

The Location

While most Aspen luxury hotels have free transportation services around town, being close to your desired activities is simply more convenient. Why take a shuttle to Aspen Mountain when you can pop on your skis and hit the slopes right out the door? If you're coming to Aspen to enjoy the nightlife scene, it makes sense to get a hotel within walking distance of downtown. On the other hand, if you want quiet time away from the business of the city, then a self-contained resort away from the action can be the best option.

Room Quality, Types, and Sizes

Hotel Jerome has far larger rooms than the average hotel. This is ideal if you are traveling with young children or if you want to spread out. Limelight offers rooms with bunk beds for large families or groups of friends traveling together. The Little Nell, on the other hand, has smaller rooms, but each room is completely unique. When you choose a hotel, consider how long you are staying and if you would prefer a homey atmosphere or clean, modern styling. Some hotels also offer more in-room amenities than others. For example, The Little Nell has both complimentary in-room drinks and snacks as well as 24/7 room service.

Amenities and Facilities

Most Aspen luxury hotels have a fitness center, pools, concierge desks, and some transportation options. However, if you want to be truly pampered, go for a hotel like Hotel Jerome or The Little Nell with full concierge services for all guests as well as gear rental, custom itineraries, and curated experiences. If you would rather spend most of your trip exploring Aspen, then amenities might not be as important to you. Some guests enjoy the convenience of having multiple restaurants in the hotel, while other guests come to Aspen to check out the world-famous restaurants here.
